Finally got somewhere. He's promised to bring all the bits with him in his service van to the Wyedean rally where I can catch up with him in service. Failing that, I'll make life difficult for him (only joking ) when he appears on the start line of the Racecourse stage.

Still waiting. He's got all the bits, just can't be bovvered to get the brackets from the laser cutter up the road I've cut the e-bay handbrake cables to re-make the caliper ends to fit the Golf unit. This will take a lot of fiddling about, harder than just bolting the calipers and brake lines on This waiting is driving me nuts

Still waiting for the brake man - he's driving me nuts. He's got all the bits, just can't be bothered to finish it off.
However, I'm a little stumped about the handbrake cables. The hydraulics are ok, I've got all the bits to make my own braided hoses in stock, and the calipers will just bolt straight on.
I've dismantled the spare TF handbrake cables and a trial fit shows I can just reach the furthest caliper, driver's side. The fitting on the Golf caliper is not clear, and I'm having trouble working out what to do about crimping the end of the cable. Everything has to pass through a hole in the cable support bracket on the caliper - or so it seems.
Anyone got any ideas, or a parts diagram of a Golf handbrake mech?

would using Golf h/b cables be a better way forward....are they long enough ?, could the lever ends be adapted ?, and indeed, is the world flat ?

Popped into the Pit Stop cafe/garage in the village where I get MoTs done. So long as the brakes work on the tester, he's not bothered if the cable is held on with chewing gum and string I've proto'd a design of a cable clamp, now I need to make a proper pair in steel. Hopefully two opposing grub screws will clamp the cable and enable me to get the tension right/ remove any slack before tightening up. So now I'm looking for some ms 0.5" bar I can machine up

End of this road Had words today, and I took all my stuff away after 3 months and getting nowhere. He can do it, just cbb. 2 more options now, but I was hoping this was going to work out as he was local. Very frustrating waiting day by day for 3 months

3 months wasted as well Jerry, extremely frustrating !!. Was it just the caliper adapter plates he was making ?, surely you must have a machine shop locally that could knock them up to a drawing......assuming you know what all the dim's are of course

All that waiting around for nothing is the worst thing. Very annoying I'm sure there must be other small engineering type places around - or have they all closed down now

Plan B kicked in late last night. This is more expensive, but much more blingy, alloy bells and separate cast 280mm discs bolted on - very supercar This was what started me off on the hunt in the first place, Godspeed could have done them cheaply and easily - but didn't Keeping my fingers crossed, but sounds like waiting since last August may pay off.
