The caliper carriers and pads came today. If it all comes together, the last pic will be the view through the wheel spokes That's if it all comes together I've got all this on spec, just hoping I can get the brackets, discs and bells made up to suit

Good luck Jerry, let me know when you are fitting them will come down and have a coffee with you, and watch the spectacle if they dont fit Haha Steve, nice to have friends Just been to see the brake man Ian, and he thinks it's on. Discs will probably be one piece to keep the cost down and I'll know in about a week if he's been successful in sourcing solid 280mm one piece discs. I didn't specify grooves, dimples etc as there is no real need for road cars - they're there mainly for cosmetic purposes in normal use. He'll make the discs to fit the F/TF hub, make brackets to fit the Golf caliper and supply all nuts and bolts. He suggested I make up kits, but I'm not going there If it all pans out, anyone will be welcome to use the part numbers of the VW bits if they want to do it themselves. The next hurdle will be the handbrake cables. Worst case is having to make new cables up, but fortunately there is a local S Wales business which can do this if required.

Called round today - still no joy. Looks like he's too busy with too many other things to do and is stringing me along. Promising to be ready by Wed

Still getting no joy, he's been busy doing a group buy for some Scooby owners over Christmas. Being a one man business must be difficult, but it's even more difficult for new potential customers. Still, I've got him as he's entering for the Wyedean rally and I'm running the Racecourse stage at Chepstow I think he's located some discs of the right dimensions, I've just got to wear him down and get on with it. The handbrake cables will be a problem if he works it out, but then again someone has to blaze a trail

Think I may be picking my rear brakes up next week Spare handbrake cables coming via e-bay, as the biggest challenge will be rigging up a decent cable arrangement. I might have to butcher the outers to get the right length if suitable. My current rears are rubbish, I'm thing of taking the brake bias valve apart to have a look inside

On Friday night we ordered a set of handbrake cables from www.MGFnTFBITZ.co.uk and they've just come this morning. What a service Complete with the handbrake lever, which is better than mine and all the clips and fittings all for £7.50 +p&p. I only want them to experiment with cable runs and lengths for the new set-up. I might be able to use them with a bit of fiddling, or even to butcher to fit. Even so, they'll be useful to use as a pattern if I have to get new cables made
