having seen the new calipers today the quality of the new calipers over the oem one's is very evident, definitely a conversion i will be following once jerry has ironed out any difficulties

The Golf caliper is very nearly identical to the OEM one, but not near enough Moving to a bigger disc with the same size piston should be more sensible, as a bracket is easier to make up. If this local guy is able, I think 280mm discs on alloy bells would be ideal. The hydraulic fitting guy hadn't got M12 banjo bolts and stuff in stock, but they are on order. Making new hoses up is easy fortunately. Just a waiting game to assemble the bits in the next few weeks

Looking forward to the "DIY KIT" being avaliable! Jerry. OOOO, had no idea Jerry, put me down for one ;D Oh no This sort of thing carries a health warning , proceed at your own capabilities I'm happy to do stuff like this, as I've done it before on other cars which have been "tested" to the limit No way would I make a "kit", as brakes are too vital to risk any errors.

Made contact with the local disc brake guy, sounds promising ;D
Grant has kindly offered to lend me a rear hub, I've got the calipers, I just need the guy to make up 280mm discs and ally bells/brackets to make it happen.
If it does come about, he may well offer "kits" - we have wait and see.

Sourced and ordered the caliper carriers from a Polo, and a set of sticky backed pads It seems the sticky back helps the inner pads withdraw with the piston and help prevent inner pad wear - we'll see Stuff should be with me before the weekend, so just need the hub from Grant and then off to www.godspeedbrakes.co.uk ;D I hoping he'll come up with the goods and make a solid 280mm disc, ally bell and bracket to bolt onto the TF hub It's a chance I'm taking, but hey ............
