A bit tied up with domestic things at the moment, but the first part of the kit arrived today: These are VW Golf Mk4 rear disc calipers which have the same 38mm diameter piston, and near identical dimensions. They are all ally and weigh a lot less than the R800 units. I'm trying to fit them to Corrado discs onto ally bells like this: Not as simple as that , the hydraulic connections are different, a bracket needs making up, the handbrake cable will be a nightmare, and sourcing the discs and bells is proving difficult. However, the unit is very light, does not seize up as it has decent seals and a more simple mechanism. The disc/ bell combo is 280mm and will be no heavier than the existing 240mm discs.

Mike H, can you confirm you have the same calipers on your SEAT?
If so, what size discs please?

They are also on Skodia Octavias, SEAT Toledos, SEAT Leons, Audi A3s, Golfs etc. It's strange how everyone laughs at MG-R for parts bin cars, but everyone is at it from floor pans to wiper motors. Must be a British thing to mock your own countries products

those calipers look nice Jerry, and wind in pistons still. Why not stick with the OE rear discs ??

those calipers look nice Jerry, and wind in pistons still. Why not stick with the OE rear discs ?? I'm sorting out the hydraulic fittiings today and will probably make my own replacement Goodrich hoses. I've got them all over the SJ and have a small stock of fittings already, so it's no problem. I might well try to fit onto the OEM discs as an interim measure. A bracket from the carrier onto the hub is one task, the other is re-routing the handbrake cable to see if it can be adapted. It will have to run alongside the trailing arm's lower edge. Although my R800 calipers are free at the moment, they are c**p and heavy. R800 calipers: 2020 gms Golf calipers: 1400 gms I was looking at every parked car when on holiday in Menorca in September to drool over these calipers, now I've got them ;D
