All tightened up and road tested round the old St Athan perimeter road last night, felt good up to 1** + Got it 4 wheel aligned today at the whizzy place I use in Cardiff. There was a brand new Bentley in there being sorted out, cost them £250 + to sort out a factory fault. The camber was spot on (fortunately after all that messing about ), but the tracking was a bit out 'cos the steering linkage/rack had been hanging off loose while I was sorting out the wishbones. They were a bit gob smacked that a punter could get the camber right to a couple of minutes with home-made kit ;D Just got to lock it all up, and then move onto the rear end. Feels really tight and quiet now, in fact it might need another test run tonight ;D

Just as a ps to the front suspension, it had a good work-out today and felt great. Good directional stability and very tight and firm on bumpy roads, almost felt like a quality car ;D Can't wait to get the bits machined for the rear suspension and fit the sealed rose joints.

Just managed to get the bits round to my contact to machine up 4 adaptors to rose joint the 4 lower radius arms. Just need to replace 2 Polybushes on the rear trailing arms, and the car will be totally re-bushed ;D
If it feels ok, I might consider fitting "comfort" dampers from VHS.

Got my rose joint adaptors tonight ;D Still shiney in EN24 steel Got to rust proof them in zinc phosphate dip, wait for my VHS dampers to come, and then I can do phase 2 of my rear suspension. Phase 3 is replacing the front compliance bush on the trailing arm with a Polybush.

Apart from Grant , this may be a very lonely darkside path BTW, the Cardiff MG man judging at the Oval Basin liked our TF as subdued, classy and subtle - obviously a man of taste

I'd like to join you on this particular dark side trip, but will have to wait until i can buy the parts off the shelf and have a decent 'how to' to follow...

Not done much today as re-furbing my new multispoke spare wheel rim. Pics show zinc phosphate treatment and little half nuts. made them by sawing a nut in half, and then facing off in my little lathe. The rose joint will replace the OEM c**p joint on the outer end of the lower front wishbone at the rear. I've already replaced the rubber bush on mine with an orange polybush, this is just Petevick's old arm. If you're wondering why I'm doing this, it's because this OEM joint is available as a complete arm, costing around £75.00. The rose joint is about £18.00 per joint, and can now be replaced when they show signs of wear, hopefully for a long time as they are fully booted

VHS Bilstein dampers came today ;D Got the fronts on already. Three height settings, and I've got them on standard. There's no advantage about lowering, just the opposite. If lowered you tend to bump into things , and gives less suspension travel before hitting the bump stops, and besides the suspension geometry is up the creek. I'm never going to go fast enough on public roads to let the minute advantage of lower C of G make any difference and I'm not bothered about cosmetic appearance
