Oxfordshire MG Owners Club's annual event, 'MGs in the Park' will take place on Sunday 1 June 2014 at the fabulous Cotswold Wildlife Park, which is just off the A361 Burford to Lechlade road, two miles south of the A40 Burford roundabout in Oxfordshire. The event starts at 10am and normally goes through until around 4pm. This is Oxfordshire MGOC's main event of the year and the largest gathering of MGs in the county. We hope to see as many MG owners as possible take advantage of this free day out. Last year quite a number of people (myself included), made a weekend of it with camping at a local site in Letchlade - we will be doing the same again this year so long as the weather nearer the time seems favourable. Anyone wishing to attend either for the day, or the weekend with camping, will be more than welcome along. More details nearer the time, but I wanted to get it on the calendar here so as I could link it with the website nice and early Link to the main webpage about this: www.oxfordshiremgoc.co.uk/mgs_in_the_park.htmlMeet points confirmed: Magor Services M4 Junc 23a to leave at 9.00am, then leaving Lechlade GL7 3AQ at about 10.45

Great stuff, I look forward to seeing you there I'll try and figure out a place where we can meet up before heading into the park - last year I spotted those of you coming up for the day at a roundabout by chance which was great, but I can't see us being quite so lucky two years running! We are planning to stay on the Saturday night before the show and on the Sunday after it. The camp site is five minutes easy walking (apart from the swans) to the picturesque town centre (which had four pubs, an award winning chip shop (can't comment on that as they shut early on a sunday it seems) and a year round christmas decorations shop!) Was a nice well placed camp site, clean facilities and relaxed friendly owners and so we are planning to camp there again, its the Bridge House Campsite (GL7 3AG) Lechlade on Thames. Telephone number is 01367 252348. Campsite cost is £8 per night per person (with I think a £20 deposit for the fob to get you into the campsite - refundable when you leave) If anyone would like to camp, just give the site a ring and say you're with the MG group and they will allocate a space for you. As with a lot of sites it's simply a case of paying on arrival. If anyone fancies staying over but not in a tent, the nearest pub to the campsite also offered rooms, their website is www.riverside-lechlade.com/Courtesy of Chris, this was last years camping weather (more of the same please!!)

Hi Jan
Lesley and I will be coming for the day and are looking forward to our first MG event. We won't be camping as we will have spent the previous long weekend under canvas with the Imp Club in Holland. We were thinking of meeting up with you all at the campsite - we've been to Lechlade and Burford several times so we know where you will be. What time would you expect to depart for the Park?
We went to Pencoed on Sunday in the Imp, and were disappointed that it was cancelled - even more now that I realise that we could have met you guys.

Phil Are you sure we can't tempt you into camping 2 weekends running?! I'm not sure what time we left the camp site last year and headed off the park, I'll consult Chris as he may remember timings. If not at the campsite, there's a Premier Inn(?) a couple of miles or so before the entrance to the Park, and they have a decent sized car park at the back where we could meet up perhaps?

No we're not camping - will be too busy polishing the car! Plus we have work o the Monday. This is actually the first time we have been camping together as Lesley always refused to sleep on the ground. We had a trailer tent from which we moved to a caravan. So there's no guarrantee we'll still have the tent after the weekend in Holland! I think we are taking half the caravan's contents with us, so wouldn't get it all in an MGF. There's a Travelodge on the roundabout outside Burford, but that is further on than the wildlife park. Don't know of a Premier Inn around there, but haven't been to Burford for 2 years. Google says 6 miles to the Park from Lechlade so only a few minutes..

Andy and I have never been camping together in the MG, in fact we've never been camping together at all lol. I know one couple who have the most amazing packing skills and manage to get a huge tent, all mod cons, clothes and the dog in their mg. I have no idea how they do it, my passenger seat and footwell are always taken up with something or other no matter how light I intend to travel. That's the one, it was the Burford Travelodge that we met a few more folks at last year - hence spotting the SW crew at that roundabout Tell you where might be a little easier to meet - just before the single file bridge (as you're coming South out of Letchlade) there's a pub called The Riverside (Lechlade, GL7 3AQ) on the right hand side, they've got a decent sized car park and it would save having to try and get a bigger crowd of us all out of the campsite and over the traffic lights on the bridge, plus they have a barrier entrance on the campsite so visiting is a little tricky. We could meet there at say around 9.30 or so?

Jan, that's sounds like a good idea to me. So if anyone else is travelling up on the day we can meet on the way up then meet all the campers in the Riverside pub. Really looking forward to the day and we hope there will be plenty of MG goodies for sale. Its time to treat ours to a new exhaust and some roll hoops, although I have not mentioned it to Elaine yet!!!!

Ken & I have managed to double book ourselves for that weekend and we are not sure if we are going to manage either We will update the forum when we know what is happening- it will probably all depend on how ready we are for taking the midget on the Artic Challenge! Hopefully there will be a meet along the M4 as Andrew and Cherrie usually attend so hopefully there can be a convoy from South Wales who can then meet up with the advance army of campers.

An M4 meet would be good to gather a few together rather than driving up singularly, Magor Services might be a good place for any coming from Wales for the day? The Riverside in Letchlade is about 5 miles past the park entrance, so it does add a few more mins to your journey, but I'll give the pub a ring and check to see if they might be open for coffee, or at least to allow folks to use their facilities. Signal - I doubt there will be much in the way of goodies for sale You might get lucky, but there's no big sellers there, it's mainly auto jumble and MG branded clothing etc. The big names rarely even have stands at the bigger shows such as MG90 at Silverstone anymore, shame really as some used to do a little discount at shows. Clara - when is it you're off to the Arctic Circle?

We are leaving home on the 9th to catch the ferry Harwich on the 10th!
Looks like we have really double booked ourselves for the 1st now- I think MGs in Park is looking more likely now. Will keep you posted, although we may look at taking 2 cars- the TF and the midget. We might even show the midget if we do

Google Directions say shortest and quickest route (65 miles - just over an hour) to Lechlade from Magor services is via Swindon not Gloucester, so you arrive from the same side of the river as the campsite. Over the bridge and the Riverside is immediately on your left. We hired a boat from there 2 or 3 years ago - steering was non existant!
What time would we meet up at Magor?

If Jan decides a definite time that they are meeting at the Riverside, then we can work back from then. Magor Services seems a good place to meet for those travelling up the M4. I can't see it taking more than 90 mins from there. (even at a snails pace) Any other stops to pick-up can be worked into the equation as we see fit.
