My SJ has done nearly 160k, most of it extreme greenlaning and more lately motorsport related. It's got oil leaks at both ends and some bearing play.
As I've got a spare car in the back garden, as you do ;D, yesterday I pulled the box out of the spare and today nearly got the box out of my real one. The spare has only done about 65k.
I ordered two new oil seals yesterday and they should be in tomorrow, not bad for a D Reg car eh?
Hopefully, if I keep at, it I'll have the seals fitted and swop over the boxes tomorrow or Thursday, and then rebuild everything I had to strip off to to get the box out - carb, alternator, exhaust etc
Got to get the old girl ready for a motorsport testing session at Walters Arena (paid) on Thursday and Friday next week prior to the Swansea Bay rally on Saturday ;D

New gearbox oil seals, new clutch friction plate, cover, new engine mount 'cos the rubber had been ripped by extreme engine torque . Lots of things to clean and paint before stuffing it all back together again

Got the other gearbox back in, just joined up the two drive shafts, gear lever back in, and then it's on with stuffing the block onto the gearbox. After that, it's a case of slowly putting all the stuff back on, starter, carb, exhaust, radiator etc

Five lifts up and down and a different pressure plate - finally got the block bolted onto the gearbox Just got to stuff everything back on and start her up. Hopefully this will give the old girl a new lease of life for a few more years ;D

Bit of a struggle. The car in the back garden was worse. No lifting facility there, so I had to drop the gearbox onto the floor, jack the car up and slide it out from under, then carry it round the house to the garage. The garage is a normal small one, so difficult to slide down the side of the car to get underneath. You just get underneath and realise you've got the wrong size spanners. Three drive shafts add a lot of fiddling around as well. Whilst doing this I've been re-furbing every bit I've taken off, painted in two coats of chassiss black etc. I've tried to bring everything back to new or better as I go along. As it's a D reg car which takes a lot of abuse, it pays to keep it in top nick, so a bit of TLC from time to time pays off

Just an update to take my mind off the other posts on the forum this morning You've got to laugh ;D ;D ;D ;D Connected up the clutch cable, filled the gearbox with oil, and jumped in to start her up - nothing ;D ;D ;D ;D Two hours later, workshop manual and test meters everywhere, I discovered that Suzuki had cleverly made all the plugs and sockets of the ignition circuit the same. Everything was plugged in where the natural curve of the wiring let it lie, all ok but in the wrong places Anyway. when everything was plugged in the right holes, it fired up, the clutch felt fine, and I have gears Just got to fit the front prop shaft and then back her out of the garage and tidy up

Still got to fit the front propshaft, might do that later when the rain stops. I've been around a bit in it now. At least everythings works now , but it's only temporary as I'm hoping to find someone to re-build my original box and get it back in. This "new" old one has weaker syncro, and a funny whine in 5th
