Gearbox was finished yesterday, but I can't pick it up until Tuesday Then, it starts all over again to swop back. This time I might do it out in the road, and take the box out backwards and leave the enging in-situ as that might hopefully be quicker and easier.

What a nightmare. Picked up the repaired box on Tuesday, and tried to get the old one back out from underneath today as the workshop manual says. Front end up on ramps, new high lift jack with fabricated platform for the box etc. The workshop manual says: Take down transmission (Official translated Jap manual) It took all day - at one point it was jammed solid. I nearly ran down the road laughing hysterically ;D It was like those wire puzzle shapes you have to undo - found in crackers sometimes. When I changed it over the other week I did it the old fashioned way, engine out and gearbox out of the engine bay using a hoist in the garage. That meant taking everything off the block to get it out, then replacing it all again. This way out in the road was meant to be easier I've got to swop a few good bits over, and think about getting it back under the car. So far I've used 3 hydraulic jacks, and a ratchet strop to get it out. It is not light , so could really do with a strong shouldered bloke to give me a hand. I'm working to get it ready for next weekend - a 2 day stage rally on Epynt military ranges which means sleeping in the car Saturday night somewhere ;D

All back in, filled with oil, tested to 95 mph - looking good for this weekend on Epynt. Just one snag, I can't sleep on Epynt ranges Saturday night 'cos the miltary are running around, so I'll have to find a quiet layby somewhere
