I'm thinking of getting a Road Angel II - I know Dave and Brian have got them. So the question is, how easy are they to fit neatly?
Also - anyone got satnav? Any recommendations on this one?

Hi Matt, i found the Road angel one great but old fashioned looking so went for Road Angel 11 about 9 months ago and it is great and looks the great and modern and ever so easy to use even for me, i have though just last week upgraded and traded in for the new Road Angel Navigator all in one job with sat Nav which boy do i need ha ha, expensive though even with trade in ,almost another £300 and not long bought the other for £399 but they are bit cheaper now, R A 11 comes with a couple of different fixture mounts, i had mine first of all stuck on windscreen just behind MG Logo badge on dash, then mounted it to on top on speedo console and think better there, easy to unplug and put safe when your parked, i hard wired mine into ciggie lighter wire instead of plugging into ciggie hole which i now have as Starter button, and fed lead around dash almost can't see, you have 2 leads so i used one for that, i hope my new Road Angel navigator comes by weekend ;D ps they can be fitted very neatly useful link here, Dave www.road-angel.co.uk/?source=overture&OVRAW=road%20angel%2011&OVKEY=angel%20road&OVMTC=standardhere's mine mounted on top of speedo console, you can see how tidy cable can be, ignore my mob phone hands free wires and silver thing on dash as is smellie ha ha

Thanks fot the info Dave - let me know how the Navigator works out - I might just go straight for that if its any good. How easy is access to the ciggie electrics? (I really ought to get a set of workshop manuals...)

Well this morning i had to go to Kimber House MGCC HQ in Abingdon Oxfordshire for F Register Committee meeting and thought here's great chance to give New RA Navigator a real try, as would normaly get lost anyway, but amazed just under 100 miles and it took me right to building car park,am very chuffed i can tell you, also warned me of fixed Speed cameras ectsame as RA 11, the only thing different re camera warnings with this unit and the RA11 is that RA 11 has the hand held laser warning built inside it, this unit you have a seperate little laser for that, and mounts on dash as you can see in pics below, the reason for this is if you wanted to take this gps to europe for route navigation as quite legal as gps and you was stopped by police you would ne ok, if it had the hand held laser built in they may well procecute and even take you RA out of car and confiscate it. re the wiring of the little hand held laser unit detector, it's brill the wire just pushes down into seam at base of windscreen and i pushed mine in all the way around and wired up in fuse box area under steering wheel, you can only see 3"" of that cable at back of unit, great. Nav wiring, it is a little long a mo as haven't finnished but you will have at laest a foot showing somewhere on dash for this but not too bad, this also gone under fuse box cover under steering wheel, another point is if you do get this do not cut the leads to hardwire as it says doing this may damage RANavigor, so what i did was buy ciggie socket(female end) and cut of plug end of the cable i already had for RA11 joined those wires, then also bough a double ciggie socket that would plug into this and plugged the both cords (navigator & Laser alert ) into these and tucked up and taped undeer steering wheel, then closed the lid which covers this lot and works great and of course doing it this was the units plug ins are fused which is comforting, sorry for long post but hope you find useful, ps the viewing screen is excellent and also has an anti glare piece of plastic type stuff that you can put over screen shoul need arise, would i reccomend this unit at £600, gte's a yep from me, Dave Below you can see me on my return home and just coming to a roundabout,2 miles back it warned me to get ready for roundabout ,500yards again and as nearly on it it tells you again which exit to take, Brill next pic is me at traffic lights you can see speedohmeter on screen as 0 also if you look it tells me my next turn will be at a rounabout in 6 miles on the A40 and 3rd exit
