Has anything exciting been going on with folks? Has anyone got any plans for their cars either in progress or planned for a later date? I'm trying to keep the miles off mine at tho mo as it's getting nearer and nearer to 100k, but it's not really working too well as I like driving it and going places in it!

Hi Jan, I was dreading that the big 100K in my Yellow Boxster, and you know what when it come, it was like a lead weight off my shoulders, and the feeling was; that was painless and you can look forward to not worrying until you reach 200K now, and that’s ages away, if I hadn’t been written off by that artic I’d still be driving it and on 150K + by now. steve.

I don't like SORNing my cars since I got stung with the Freelander last summer (took it off the road for 6 months and saved myself £120 in tax, but ended up with a garage bill of about £500 as I'd completely abandoned the car and not even started it for 6 months and it didn't like being unused).
I know it's not a big deal really and it's just a number, I was just the same when I was approaching my 30th birthday.. once I'd got that out of the way 40 didn't bother me in the slightest!

I've been up to a big fat nothing MG wise for ages, haven't actually driven it since October so it's probably got seized calipers and God knows what else.

Mending my instrument binnacle again. It broke free from the dash in 2014 just before I went off to Lake Garda - did a sort of temporary fix quickly before I went, but now the plastic binnacle bit has two splits on the top which chatter and are really annoying. I've got some two part urethane bonding stuff, bits of Kevlar sheet etc to do a proper fix and hopefully sort out long enough to see me out

Seen some on ebay which would match the coffee-cream interior scheme but over £300 Suede on cheaper ones looks piled or scruffy. If you see any more for £50-£150 shout it out

Both rear brake sets rebuilt and re-greased, front driver side brakes freed up and de-glazed, front passenger side replaced for new. Suspension pumped up and leveled out, few small niggles fixed like 1 on fan speed now working. Next up will be replace driver side door lock, currently disconnected from CL system key entry only though passenger side works fine. Exhaust box looks rusty and horrid but not rusted through yet, thinking to pre-empt that with a new one, and I am liking the note that comes out of those Daytona exhaust boxes. Would need to change the ends of tail pipes too or will pair of ovals still be OK with new exhaust? The chrome on them is still good. Thinking of replacing rear hood clear vinyl with one of the heated glass pieces, looks a fairly straight forward though "no going back" job once started.
Feedback welcome.

Sorry, missed this post before. Daytona is the exhaust a lot of us have chosen over other stainless systems, I had one on my F which I sold on and then bought another for the TF. I wouldn't part with mine without a fight lol. You won't be able to swap the finishers over as I'm pretty sure they're welded onto the OEM exhaust, but Daytona's do come with a choice of finishing pipes - last time I looked (which was quite a long time ago now), you could have ovals, round or quad finishers. Again I swear by my glass screened hood, no going back on that one for me either. You do lose a small amount of clear size as such, but the clarity of looking out through glass rather than plastic more than makes up for it. There are a couple of different options with the glass screen - you can get a glass section fitted into your existing hood, you can buy a new hood with zipped glass section, or you can get a one piece hood with a glass screen.

So many options! I think I will wait to get the impressions and suggestions from a few of the folks on 10th April of my F as well as your own, all suggestions gladly accepted. Also it will be a good chance for me to hear and see some things in person which may help make up my mind. Need to attend to some mechanical basics firstly and then spend a little on it as the year progresses. Clear rear view would be a sensible spend because driving with sun behind me I can't see diddly-squat out behind in RVM, relying on wing mirrors.

Yeah having a listen to exhausts is definitely a good idea as they all sound very different in person.

My F is going in for a week or so tomorrow morning to be salt-washed, dried out, wax-oil treated, have a defective door lock replaced, general check over and MOT. It should be away for 7 days give or take. Then it is all good for the 10th April run!
