I've quite fancied a typhoon TF ever since seeing my friends a couple of years back, and seeing as I got out-bid on another sunspot on ebay - a typhoon 160 was going to be my next car. There was only 18 of them made though, one was sold a few months back in Scotland and my mate still has one, so realistically that left a maximum of 16 available so I knew I was in for a long wait which was fine, as I have a million other things to do at the moment which are taking priority over the car(s). But within a few days of finally deciding that was what I was doing, one came up on ebay last Thurs and it was too much of a good chance to miss www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111440956585?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AITAfter having to arrange to leave work early (I don't finish til 7.30 and thought asking if I could view the car at 9.30pm might be pushing my luck!) a trip to Bracknell was made - and the Typhoon TF bought for a favourable price It needs quite a bit doing to it, some cosmetic work and some more mechanical stuff, it's a bit of a mess really, but I wasn't put off by it - I was having it regardless lol Starting to look a bit better now it's had a good wash Lots still to do on it, starting this weekend with a new hood, new brake calipers & discs, and also some engine/electrical work as it has a fair few faults to clear.

Great colour. Hope there's no work needed to paintwork, could be a difficult match. Look forward to seeing it ? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I've been told that it's actually easier to match this paint even though it's a lot 'flippier' than sunspot. The theory being that none of the panels look the same anyway, so as long as the paint is the right colour it will look ok... I've ordered some paint and planning on taking it to a local bodyshop to see what kind of job they do with my quad lights - it should be a good indication of the general issues but without costing too much/damaging existing panels.

Good plan The problem is getting the flip in the same direction, so I'm told. At least the paint is available

Yeah I've also heard the same about flip paint... I'm just a glutton for punishment with 'fancy' paints lol
If the lights go ok, I might get the spoiler done and fitted too, not sure yet.

Not a lot of progress... This one does have handling problems as well Guvs! Getting a new set of tyres fitted hopefully later this week (courtesy of Toyo and their fantastic customer service) so will be able to find out whats going on with it a bit better once they've been scrubbed in and the alignment checked.
It's been off the road since early Sept as I had problems with it over heating when stationary. Russell Walsh came out and replaced the head gasket and a few other bits, but the problem wasn't much better so it was another 3 week wait for him to come back and do more work. The radiator's been replced now along with the thermostat, and the oil cooler bypassed.. It's a lot better than it was but the heater still doesn't get as hot as it should which means it's likely the coolant flow through the heater matrix is blocked a bit. But that's another major labour intensive job with the matrix being under/behind the dash. That's on the list for next time, whenever that is.
Bit fed up the last few months to be honest. All I want is a car that I like and that goes as it should!

Ha - this was my old car... I bought it in about 2005 and sold it about three years later for a TVR are regretted it almost straight away! I did my best to keep it in tip top condition and sold it to the son of a South Wales MG dealer. I still have some paperwork hanging around - message me (I'm mgroverboy on mgr.org) if you want me to send it to you..... I 'may' also be able to help you out with what its its handling problems too.... I frequently wondered what happened to it...I loved it! I just recently bought an '05 160TF so gone full circle. Cheers Jez

Cheers Jez Hey Jez, wow small world! So it went from Wales to somewhere else, then to Bracknell and now back to Wales... How weird is that I sorted the handling problems out after, it was a problem with the tyres and once Toyo got involved and replaced all 4 with new ones it's been fine ever since. I'd be interested to hear what other handling issues it might have had though? I didn't get any paperwork with the car when I bought it which makes sense if you still have it lol. What colour TF have you got now? Are you in South Wales?
