Hi, long time since I've popped up on here - been busy shopping, housework, ironing, gardening - and keeping three cars on the road
Di and I went to the Museum for half a day in 2007, it was fantastic, but we were on a schedule taking part in the MG CC International Meeting in Speyer.
I thought I might go back later in the year and take a couple of days to take in the museum properly.
We did the boat ride on the Rhine, Speyer is a lovely city, and the countryside is wonderful.
Have a look at this: speyer.technik-museum.de/en/ and this is where we stayed: accorhotels.com/gb/hotel-8668-ibis-styles-speyer/index.shtml
I'm looking certain to go, but it's better with some company - food for thought?

Hi Jerry it's been a while
I've look at the Speyer museum online in the past and it looks like a fantastic place to visit and is on my to do list. Unfortunately if you are planning to go later this year we are booked up with our quota for big trips this year. Hope you find some people to join you on this will be a fantastic trip.

Does sound good but like Oz we are quite booked up with holidays and long weekends so can't see us fitting in another trip abroad this year. We so need to retire annual leave doesn't go far enough!

I'm also thinking of combining this trip with citedelautomobile.com/en/home It's not too far away from Speyer and perhaps might be 5/6 days all in. I might try this myself later this year, and perhaps a few brave souls might want to try it next year?

Sorry I've not been around much this year, motorsport took over a large chunk of time and I've been catching up on five years of lost TF care. Some paintwork, new osf wing (car park dent), front end off, new silicon coolant hoses, exhaust flange repairs, underside body treatment etc
Have a good Christmas, hope to see you in the new year.
I didn't get any free time until late November to do this trip, and by then it was too late to take my intended route down the German side of the Rhine, cross over before Basle to the French museum because of possible weather conditions with my "summer" tyres.
However, It's just dawned on me that it will be 10 years in 2017 since Di and I went to Speyer - what could be better than another trip 10 years on? I'm looking at spring time, March-ish as my motorsport seasons first event is 7/8/9th April. I'll have got the organisation out of the way in Jan/Feb hopefully.
Just a vague plan - anyone interested?

Been there, done it. 1500 miles in three days - car ran like clockwork.
Lots of memories, with a bit of sadness.
Hope to make the next pub meet.
