Car seems ok so I will try to get up early to meet at the Halt cafe before 11am! However, I shall be leaving you some time after Bala as my night vision is not good & I want to be home before dark. The nearside head light is focused too low, which doesn't help.

Just in from rally car testing (4 cars) with a view of the Brecon Beacons - all looked good.
I'm sure we'll be sensible if the weather turns nasty, but I'll be at the Halt.

I hope that the weather is decent and you all have a great run out tomorrow, Jerry I've said on facebook that anyone wanting to go needs to be with you at The Halt by 11am. If any of you gets an opportunity to take a couple of photos (doesn't have to be anything fancy), could I use them to update the website please.

A big thanks to Jerry. What a day! The weather sort of made it even better. Standing water around every corner meant 100% concentration at all times. Left Bridgend at 0800hrs, got back at 20.00hrs so a good solid days driving. Total miles 343. Many thanks to the crew for a brilliant day. (Leslie close that gate!!) As a afterthought look out for a possible vibrant orange LE500 soon? ?

343 miles?! Wow, that's not your average Sunday afternoon jaunt!
Glad a good time was had by all, John Standing added a few photos to Facebook and must say it looked a bit grey but a good turnout despite the weather. I've done this run a few times now and would really like to do it again, maybe in a few months time when the evenings are lighter (I struggle night driving in the TF due to glare from on-coming traffic) we could have a re-run?
Tell us more about the Vibrant Orange... has one been found?

We got home at around that time too Stavros.. We had a great time splashing over the mountains in the rain. Many thanks to Jerry for leading a brilliant day's driving. Jan - I'll email you a couple of photos - today wasn't the best for taking photos. Our day didn't start too well. Leaving at 09:15 I noticed a pink puddle under the car as Lesley reversed it out of the garage. So we swopped to the BMW convertible in the hope of some roof down driving (wishful thinking). We set off to make up time and arrived at the Halt Café just before 11:00. So I have another problem to look at and an MOT in February. AS we were leaving the pub we said it would be nice to meet up on a more regular basis. Lesley suggested meeting up on a monthly basis at the Unicorn in Cardiff (M4 Jnc30-Cardiff Gate) as we do with the Imp Club (on the 3rd Wednesday of each month). It is a good central location with ample parking and serves bar meals. Our members find it convenient travelling from the Rhondda, Pontypool and Cardiff areas. Several other car clubs meet there on Tuesdays and we wondered if anyone was interested in meeting up on the 1st Wednesday of each month. What does everyone think?? Oh, and Stavros, do you really think that Lesley got out and closed ANY of the gates in that wind and rain? Phil

Thanks for the pics Phil, I'll get them and a write up on the website shortly. Not good finding a pink puddle, I hope it turns out to be nothing too serious.
Re the monthly pub meets, I think it's a great idea, the biggest problem that I face is with not finishing work til 7.30pm Mon & Thurs, and 9.30pm Tues & Weds, it's difficult for me to get to them myself. Andy works rolling shifts of 2 days then 2 nights so is also somewhat limited. The location of The Unicorn looks spot on in terms of ease of access and fairly central location and I like the idea of a fixed location as it makes it much easier to direct newer people too as well. Would they be able to accommodate on a Monday do you think? I could probably arrange to leave work a little earlier once a month on a Monday than I could any other night.

Just like to thank Jerry for organising the run. I thought it was a great route with some "interesting features". Pity that we had bad weather as the views would have been fantastic on a clear day. As Jan says, one to be repeated in the Summer? Missed the last gated run as I wanted to get home before dark as my head lights are useless {& my night vision isn't good} Must get the lights sorted.
