Andy's just spoken to Jerry and the date for the Hellfire Pass Run is going to be 31st January (apologies to any who are unable to make this date, it's the first Sunday that Jerry is available). The plan is to meet at The Halt Cafe LD1 6NN for 11am and then carry on up to Bwlch y Groes. This will be an all day event, quite intensive driving (~200 miles or so) but stopping for coffee breaks along the way with a planned stop for early evening meal. For anyone who hasn't been on this run before, this is the kind of road you can expect (but can't promise the same with the weather!)

I've got tow ropes, shackles, portable winch and enough kit to keep moving if it gets hairy up there. I think we'll have to keep an eye on the weather now the eternal rain seems to have slowed down, possibly being replaced by more wintery stuff. I'm still determined to go

Sorry to say it's looking like we are not going to be able to join you for this one anymore, I'm gutted because I know what a good run it is and it seems like ages since we've been on a run.

I've no idea whose coming, but basically I'm leaving The Halt Café shortly after 11.00, so I'm aiming to get there +/- 10.30 at least.
I/we are going up through Llanidloes, stopping at the Meirion Mill on the A470 for a quick comfort break/ whatever, then up the pass, have a natter at the top, then drop down to Lake Vrynwy, TL, then 1st L again uphill to get back to Bala. Dropping down the eastern side of Lake Bala, crossing the A494 if we have time, and crossing over to the A470 over a gated unclassified road. I might need a passenger for that bit to open gates, but if someone else wants to go in front that's fine!
I'd like to know numbers to warn the pub, but if it's only a few it won't be a problem.
I've sorted my binnacle problem, but now my intermittent/ wash wipe has gone funny and it's behind the instrument panel!!!!! Still, the wipers work in normal mode.

Can you give some idea of the route please Jan? Been having probs. with oil warning light but I think it's fixed now, so could be up for the run. As per Jerry's post, it's quite a hefty, intensive run in some fairly remote areas, so be aware of that if you've got any suspected issues. Jerry it's all been very quiet in terms of committed numbers, I think a lot of us are a bit wary of the weather for such a decent run out. I'll post on facebook and see how many are able to confirm, but it's quite likely to be a low turn out. For me and Andy, we'll make a definite decision on Saturday and let you know.

Weather forecast for Sunday [Bala] is decent - 12c & a few showers. Been having oil loss/pressure problem, so need to be sure it's sorted. Will give it another run & if ok will be at the Halt cafe before 11am, Sunday.

I think we're going to be the same as Jan and Andy. We'd like to come along, but are wary of the weather. If the forecast looks pretty good for the trip up to and over the pass then I think we'll be there. Let's hope Roger's forecast is right. For the drive home, well a bit of rain isn't a problem. Definitely not driving in snow though!

Ok, I'll turn up and see who's there. I'm not bothered about weather things, probably due to my motorsport cross country racing interest!! As said at the beginning, I'm making a sentimental personal journey, so I don't mind at all if you feel uncomfortable with possible weather conditions - but I'm going

I think there's 2 confirmed Jerry with others possibly turning up on the day (me and Andy are a definite no now, decorating taking priority while we've got 2 solid days on it rather than faffing for a couple of hours here and there between work).
Best thing to say is that you'll be at the Halt Cafe until 11am - and anyone coming along must be there before that as you'll not be waiting with it being such a long run out.
Confirmed:
Jerry John (Stavros) and John Standing
Maybe:
Phil & Lesley Tony Owen Dale & Lynette Chapman Chris Hathway (not stopping for food at pub if he does come) Rob & Tina Hoblyn Sharon Hopkins & Paul Meredith
