Sorry I've not been around - working like mad on my SJ for the MoT after recent years of neglect, dealing with Diane's Mum - dementia/care homes/power of attorney etc, planning our venues for our 4x4 MSA championship venues, working at a motorsport testing site, housework/shopping ........................................................................
Anyway, I'm going to Mechelen in August to revisit the trip we did in 2006 with the F Register, and another trip over the Stelvio in September (and a holiday in Menorca in June!! - not in the TF)
Hopefully I'll be able to join you sometime. I'm still dreaming of driving the A470 coast to coast and back, possibly in one day!! This was watered down for the SWMGF event in 2006 which Dave got international visitors turning up. Any takers?

Sounds like a very good idea Jerry, I'll have to look at a map to see the route. Sounds like an excellent run though.

Well, it might sound crazy but the A470 starts at Mermaid Quay, Cardiff Bay and ends at Llandudno sea front. Some bits have been closed to traffic, but most remains as it was. Should take 4.25 hours to get their, brief bite to eat and back again. I think I'm going to do it even if no-one else wants to!! Sort of minor ambition never realised

We would love to do this run but 8.5 hers driving in one day?!?
If you do an overnight stop we would definitely be up for it. Happy to organise a hotel if you do go for the overnight option.

Sounds good Jerry but I think ken & Clara have a point about an overnight stop. I know the start at Cardiff isn't too far for most but it would take me an hour to an hour & a half each way on top of your 8.5 hrs.

Well, it was the Kensington Hotel, just on the sea front yards from where the A470 ends. It had a car park at the rear and I think it is still there under different owners. ( you had to be there then to know what I'm on about!!!!!!) 8.5 hours - truck drivers do it - I've done it in tankers It's just one of those I've always wanted to do - probably this year alone or with other mad folk. Why not try the Register as it was Dave who got the Register involved back in 2006.

I am really up for doing this cost to coat run and yes it's possible to do it in a day, like you jerry I've done longer drive's BUT its a fine line between enjoying and enduring a drive and for us Louise would definitely suffer with her back. So what we are planing to do is drive the cost to cost with you all and we will do an overnight stop even if no one else is. We are also thinking about going to portmeirion the next day as Louise has never been ( she didn't come on the prisoner run in 2008 ) and head home a different route maybe the cost road or if others are interested in going to portmeirion we can look at other route's maybe back to the holt cafe i don't mind. So if we are doing the second day by of selves or with others we are looking forward to doing the cost to cost run.
P.S. Any dates in mind.

I agree with Oz, Elaine would suffer with her back too, so I feel a overnighter would be the best plan all round. Some dates would be handy (on leave from the 12 July for 2 weeks) so as we can plan ahead. Portmeirion sounds good, might see Patrick McGee or one of his balls!!!

Yes we would be up for an overnighter and Portmeiron sounds a good idea too. Those that want to do there and back in a day can, those that want to stay over can- everybody happy ? All dependent on dates now.
