Our MY2005 TF wasn't fitted with an upgraded head gasket. I think you'll find it's only the later Chinese models. Good luck with your search.

Andrew is right in what he says, in that the Chinese made a number of modifications to the engine in a number of areas, including fitting a knock sensor, LR headgasket and bottom rail. The head casting is different with improved water cooling passages among other things. The changes are therefore only applicable to the 'Chinese' cars and the engine is commonly referred to as an N Series. The changes are therefore applied to the 2007-2011 cars, the first cars to benefit being the LE 500.

Hi there Oz,
Nice to see you on the forum after such a long time. I take it you are in the market for another F/TF. Do hope your search is fruitful it would be lovely to see you and Louise back on the circuit.
The 05 model year car had low alarms fitted and softer suspension, you can identify a 2005 car the 'TF' badge is in the middle of rear panel under boot lid and it has a heated rear screen.
Hope to see you on the road soon.

Well i just bought a 05 TF (badge on the left) and no head gasket replaced (yet) but given that it is only on 33k I recon I've got 5k of HGF free driving to go, that's my calculations anyway, anyone fancy starting a book on it 🤣 Guvs.
