New to forum and just wanted to say hi to everyone.
I own a Tahiti blue MY2K VVC, 75K. Rescued from a pub car park around 8 months ago, initially intended as a renovation project but now played with daily and becoming an obsession.
Works so far:
Radiator blew: Fitted s/s underfloor cooling pipes and new aluminium radiator. Added a secondary fan (still yet to be wired up).
MOT fail on emissions (damaged back box and CAT) and front left lower ball joint.
Upgraded to a TTMk 7-2 exhaust and fitted cat nuts. Replaced standard cat and fitted Toyo ss down pipe.
MS seat belt tidies.
Black hardtop.
Hydrogas suspension pumped up, 2 new rear tyres with track / balance and four wheel alignment check.
72K Full service.
Replaced windscreen (stone chipped) and fitted aero blade type wiper blades.
Uprated internal courtesy and instrument switch lighting and removed yellow tinted instrument panel filter. (The dim amber glow of a circa 1970s lava lamp is no more).
Uprated heater rheostat (Heater positions 1 and 2 now work ).
Ready to go, when I get time /help/ cash:
Toyo ss manifold and new oxy sensor.
Uprated fixings as required.
52mm throttle body and Pipercross Viper Induction kit. (Remove resonator box ahhhhh!!).
Side air intake scoops.
Front and rear mud flaps.
VVC cam timing belts, water pump, modified thermostat and housing, coolant sensor and ss cooling / engine assembly pipes (next service).
4 refurbished hairpin alloys wheels with Toyo Proxes.
MS slick shift unit and new gear cables.
Handbrake cables.
Front and rear badges.
MS radiator air duct kit.
MS black roll hoops system.
MS anodised internal trim finishings.
Trophy style headlamps.
Door sill protection strips.
Dash binnacle surround.
Bespoke black tint mirrored rear and front / side indicator lamps.
BAS blue soft top with heated rear glazed window.
Front bumper, front fogs lights and splitter.
Alternative front bumper, side intake, boot and rear bumper mesh.
TF type bonnet air box (passenger side footwell leak = saturated carpet insulation).
Internal floor mats.
Under carpet insulation.
Walnut wood effect door cards, centre console, gear knob and dash board vents.
Cream leather handbrake, gear shift gaiters.
Heated windscreen washer kit.
Low coolant sensor alarm kit.
Pioneer door, T bar speakers and head unit.
Engine start button.
Automatic boot release.
Sooner than later:
Arrange for a diagnostic check to establish underlying faults.
Steering wheel free rotates left when pulling away. EPAS fuse checked and fuse / unit contacts cleaned. Still unresolved. EPAS sensor adjustment to be looked at some day soon.
Resolve squealing from rear passenger side wheel ( caliper, brake pads or possibly bearing).
Establish route for water entering and holding in bodywork shell immediately above exhaust back box heat shield and below number plate. Water seeps into boot through the profiled holes saturating the boot carpet from below. (Considering a small drain hole and runout tube).
Rectify high start up idle (1150 rpm) as part of air intake system improvements and a TPS reset.
Proposed:
Air scarfe mod.
Polybush upgrade.
Gaz adjustable shocks.
Black diamond disks and pads all round and SS braided hoses.
Respray to bodywork as required.
Pass MOT.
Fit an in car stealth cam.
Hopefully never: Forget all the above and fit uprated head gasket kit.
Annoyances: Repair and finish bodywork fatigue (rust spots and prangs / dents).
So as you can see, just a little to be getting on with!!
