hi all i have started a restoration of my ap caliper brakes .. :-/new discs pads etc but i have had a problem removing said caliper from car and stripping to clean and replace the pads, i have had to cut the caliper pins that hold the pads in place so am now in search of new pins but unfortunately no one seems to stock them do you guys have any ideas of suppliers i would prefer to get new parts but may fit used if a last resort

Brown & Gammon's stock them @ £3-54 each, also Mike Satur but they are more expensive. AP themselves are also worth a try ( I heard once someone was sent a set free of charge !). A good quality , correct size steel punch is essential for removing these pins ( and give them a good soaking in Plus Gas), then smear them in Copperslip grease when refitting. I repainted my Calipers using Plastikote Signal Red brush paint, and they are still glossy after 6 years ! John

thanks john for the info will have a look now i took the calipers off the car to clean and examine rubber seals around the pistons if i could load the dam photo you will see that the discs and pads were are absolutely shot, i bought the tf to restore somewhat and when i took off the road wheels couldnt believe what a poor state the brakes were in. To be honest the car cannot be driven till all brakes have been replaced i intend to paint the calipers as well, i had an afternoon of pulling, pushing and swearing at said pins and caliper bolts just to remove the pads, but under no circumstances would they be parted from caliper so after cutting the pins in two i removed the pads and spent a couple of hours cleaning off all dust and am now ready to paint and replace.Just need the pins to finish
