Belt is screaming like a good un, question is it a simple diy job to change or pay a garage to do? I'm reasonably mechanically minded but never tried a belt change. Planning on full engine service myself ready for the spring, but think the belt maybe a garage job? Worried about overtightening and damaging bearings or even the cam belt.....

Not really a problem, but long winded.
Got to really remove OSR wheel, top inspection hatch and lie in the road. There is an adjuster hidden behind the front of the subframe which normally rusts and snaps off. If it does, remove what you can and tension the belt with a long screwdriver/piece of wood? on the alternator body. Top bolts are easily reached from above to pivot the body, otherwise than that, quiet straightforward.

If you decide to do the job yourself, check the Alternator bearing as my alternator belt started screaming, then a few weeks later the alternator seized. Its now started on my TF and its not a five minute job
