I have the Taipan as well from the MUST GO FASTER CENTRE, Bill's lads fitted it down in Wolverhampton 2 years ago. Coming back from Bill's place I found it increased the accelleration greatly and the purr from the intake sounded great kinda used to it now don't take that much notice, I changed to the 52mm trottle body as well that time. I had the filter out once and not sure about cleaning it does one give it a go of the hover or tap it to release the dirt, don't know anyone advise.

MGF Centre are great Victoria and Bill have done loads of work in past on my MGF and i have had quite a few bits for my TF recently including Stainless braided brake hoses,Silicon HT leads ;D re your Taipan, the answer on cleaning this type of filter is very easy even if hard to believe ;D The filtering media is a stainless steel mesh so a good wash in washing up liquid will do just nicely, Dave

Dave, Do you mean immerse the whole thing in warm water and wash up liquid and allow to dry?

Yep that's about right easy to do, no need to take whole unit and pipes out down to vent, just take off hose from throttle body and top of taipan, undo the three little allen key bolts where i have shown with arrows and away you go and lift out, the actual filter will come out and you will see how that is when you get taipan out,i suppose you could swish the whole enclosure with filter in place don't see why not, dry with hairdryer for quicker refit ha ha, Dave

Dai, Thanks for that info. Must do this soon, I think it may be quite dirty after the summer, because it seems to have lost its distintive suction sound.

Hi Dave-whats the pipe lagging for on the coolant return? Mike Not my car, but it's probably to stop the small coolant bleed pipe rubbing on the underside of the engine cover. Mine is wrapped in self amalgamating tape for that reason.

Yep it's as Jerry mentons and i got the idea from Jerry in the first place when i saw his pipe taped over,i looked at my pipe and it was actualy shiny where the underside of access cover was rubbing on the pipe,my bit of pipe lagging may be a bit big but all i had handy to do the job and it dos the job ;D e

ok guys, yes I found some rubbing points on the cooling pipes on my F . There seem to be various odd points that cause friction wear , there is one down by the starter motor where the main power feed cable passes over one of the metal bulkheads.
Perhaps we should ask everyone to contribute there own collection of friction wear weak points ?
