Fitting a central locking motor to my SJ air box which has a manual cold/hot air intake changeover valve. Cold air is better, but the carb freezes up in cold damp weather causing poor running/stopping  Hot air off the exhaust stops it freezing up, but reduces the power - and I need every drop I can get  Hopefully I can flick a switch and bring hot air into the carb whilst still running and then switch back again when it goes back to normal without having to stop at the roadside, lift the bonnet and fiddle with the air filter box valve. It becomes a pain when you're in a hurry in the middle of the night  |

Getting along nicely, TIG welded up a bracket for the solenoid, sorted out the flap valve, just got to work out a few vital details, then got to wire it up so I can work it from inside when on the move.

Made a mod to the racking and the locking motor clicks the hot/cold air valve over like - I don't know what. Needed it today on the way to Metrople Hotel in LLandod, past Epynt/Upper Chapel - awesome snowy scenery ;D Spotted a nice MGF broken down on the A470 opposite Aberfan with blonde in the snow on her phone  |

You didn't stop then? ;D ;D ;D No. Women say they rule the world, so they mend their own MGs Also, I'm not keen to stop to help any lonely lady these days when you might be accused of anything ( that comes with the price of ruling the world  ) If women were ladies and men were gentlemen, then it would have been different, perhaps times might change for the better  , but I'll probably be long gone by then. |

Reminds me of the days Jerry when one had to change the air filter orientation on the old A Series motors from summer to winter to determine whether one wanted cold air from the engine bay or warm air from the exhaust manifold. How times change  |
