Just signed up for 6 days of continous radio duty on Rally GB again, only last year it was in snow and I slept out two nights in the car. Same again this year except it will be warmer in October

Susan Hampshire flagged off the competitors, but close up she had horrible spots

As discussed about a year ago, to call this Rally GB is an insult It would be more aptly named the Annual Welsh Treasure Hunt. And whilst I'm on one - why on earth does the date move so significantly each year? Always used to be a fixed November date. Absolute rubbish event these days I'm afraid. (Going to get some of my old '70's road books out of the attic now for a quick nostalgia trip ).

The FIA may well set the dates, but the fact it's all commercialised these days, being run by IMS - who are the commercial arm of the MSA, means that it's all geared to making money rather than being a test of man and machine. To quote from the launch release on the rallygb.org website "This year’s event will have a new twist, with Rally HQ and the Service Park based entirely in Cardiff, making it extremely convenient for fans wanting to experience all the action". A new twist - huh. Let's keep all the fans in one geographical area so that we can charge them for every local stage or area they want to visit thereby maximising our margins. And of course, you can only visit the designated stages, for which we will charge you £30 for a Day Ticket or £90 for a four day pass. It's an absolute disgrace /Off to watch Sideways to Victory
