Just how big is the tank on a big BMW ? Not as big as the tank was on my Shogun - £80 to fill it up and from mine in Bridgwater to Earl's court, London and back used up a hole tank!!!!!! Cost me £55 to go to the NEC last year from Burnham-on-sea.
I love the MPG out of the MGF - i can almost go twice as far now on the same amount of fuel, have much more fun and meet loads of new intersting people. ;D

Adrian, I'm sure you told me today. There was too much info going round and and a very small brain to put it in to. What difference does the shield make? I'm definately getting a straight through pipe for my exhaust though. It sounds wicked. Let us know how the MOT goes on Tuesday.

Sallie, In a nutshell it is a heatshield. It keeps an amount of hot air , from the engine, away from the open cone on the air filter, which as you know doesn't perform as well as it does with cold air.
The cold air, that comes in through the air induction pipes is also held from going to waste, what doesn't get sucked in the engine of course, it is trapped by the curvature of the shield.
It is all minimal amounts of course, but every little bit helps and it looks nice too.
