Peeps it's off as i had to ring this morning around 11am with our meal choices,i have decided it's to long way to go for to few of us, so i have cancelled again, i think we need a rethink on the way we do this monthly meet and perhaps now with the price of petrol as it is which doesn't help with the volume of meets at this time of year,we could perhaps leave the eating side of it out and just have a natter type get together with drink type meeting, next month will be the same problem for last Tues in month as is 2 days staright after Fest weekend,so what if we postpone pub meets to start again in Aug as i don't know what else to suggest, over to you,Dave

For me this month it was mostly down to money - partly a case of petrol costs & toll bridge and also it was quite an expensive menu for a cheap n cheerful get together - on top of Silverstone, new calipers & SS pipes and MOT due this week it was all just a bit much for my cash flow I don't mind either way for future meets whether its food or just a drink and a natter (I already know I will be missing from the July one if it is as normal due to it being my sons birthday) so it makes no difference to me if you go ahead with July or leave until Aug. Maybe rather than trying new places each month we have say 3 'set' places we use maybe one Cardiff way (Star at Dinas?), one central (Horse & Jockey @ Ponty?) and one over the bridge (can't think of the name of the place we went to over there, it was an easy run and not far off the motorway if I recall correctly). We could do them on alternate months then perhaps

I think really i'm in same boat as you Jan,bit skint after Silverstone and Mg's in Trees i also need new rear discs and pads so money tight with me at mo, plus i've just bought colour dvd 11.5" dvd colour screen monitor to use on karaoke out and about ;Dnot just for Fest etc, but mainly for Eve and i and family, see here what do you think? cgi.ebay.co.uk/11-3-Portable-DVD-Divx-Games-Freeview-USB-SD-TV-player_W0QQitemZ230261797457QQihZ013QQcategoryZ15055QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742.m153.l1262also bought a new song chip which are expensive but has quite a few Abba songs which Evelyn loves, this chip arrived today and have just put it in mic,Eve doesn't know but think she will be happy singing when she comes home, you should hear here sing Fernando, Brill, i'm waffling again ha ha,back on topic. was just talking to Greyfox and he said very similar to you and i am totaly with you on keeping it to 3 pubs as you've mentioned,The Star at Dinas and Horse & Jockey at P/Pool and i think the one Geoff and Karen had also a good choice and easy to find over thier way,so i would be very happy to see this new idea put into place and start from last Tues in Aug

I know that I can't really speak on the subject as currently working away from home means that I haven't really been able to participate much in the last couple of years That said, given the number of meets generally throughout the summer months, what with Silverstone, MGFest and all the other Register stuff going on, what about making the pub meets (meal and natter) winter months only, say October - April or something similar? That way the pennies can be spent on the big events in the summer months and then gives everyone a chance to catch up during the winter months when there's not a lot else on. Obviously with the SWMGF Christmas Dinner and New Year run in December, December is catered for, which would then give six winter months of pub meets and six summer months of local/regional/national type meets. Just my 2p's-worth.

I think that is a good idea Dave just to stick to three pubs. I am in the same boat as you all a bit skint this month what with Silverstone etc. would not be able to do next month either as we are off to France on the Thursday after Fest. So August would be good to start again. And if we keep to the last Tuesday it would make it much easier to plan.
