Hi I'm from Bridgend I bought my 96 mgf 1.8 mpi a few weeks back. It's no minter but I didn't pay an awfull lot for it. Had a bit of a rocky start with the car brakes, soft top, headlights and Speedo cable playing up. But after driving it I decided it was worth sorting it's going to be a slow process but will hopefully be worth it in the end. Jst thought I'd introduce myself. Are there any local meets so I can meet other owners? How do I add pictures on here?

Hi Gavin and welcome The easiest way I find to add photos is to use Photobucket to upload the pics to, and then use the [ IMG ] codes to paste in here. It's a bit quiet in general at the mo as people have been going to events/meets further afield and organised by others, but there are a few of us around who pop into the forum quite regularly. Clara is trying to sort a pub meet out for this coming Sunday - there's a few people going to that although they post on the Facebook group rather than the forum. I'm sure Clara will update with meet details etc in the next few days. I think as a group, SWMG tend to be busier in Sept-March when there's less national stuff going on.

All the local meets are posted both on here and on Facebook - it's just that there aren't many of them at the moment. It's really difficult trying to organise a meet when there's not many active members, as soon as one or two people drop out, there isn't really enough others to make a meet worthwhile Evening meets are difficult for me as I work 4 evenings a week - and weekends are often taken up with either family commitments, further afield mg events or fixing things that have gone wrong with either mine or my OHs TF! Others have similar commitments so trying to find a day/date that fits with more than just a couple is really difficult unless planned months in advance, and even then, people don't seem to want to commit. There are quite a lot of us MG owners around in South wales, but also a lot of apathy (perfect example - I passed 2 on my way to work yesterday, waved at them both and got stoney faces in return!). As said, Clara was trying to organise a meet this coming Sunday (there's a post on the meets section of this forum), but out of the active forum members, no one is available or has said they'd like to go. And from around 35 or so members on the FB group, only about 4 people have commented. Oz also posted about an event in August - but I think I'm the only person to have replied to that, and that was only to say I won't be able to make it.

Thank you for clearing that up:) I may be interested in the August meet I'll have to have a look at where and when it is. Hopefully it's not too far as I'm still scared to death of driving it far

Hi Gavin
Welcome to SWMG. Don't worry about Facebook - either Jan or I will always update forum with events so you will not miss out.
Unfortunately, work and family commitments has resulted in very little interest in a pub meet this weekend.
Like Jan, Ken and I are very much involved with larger national events, but in our case it is in both the TF or a midget so that keeps us busy.
The August run is to join other MGs of all sorts on the Pendine Dash. It is a run organised by the Pembroke Owners Club and is usually a very good day out.
Jan is trying to organise a run for September which should be good as the national scene and holiday season comes to an end so keep an eye out on the form for further details.
I will try and sort out some kind of meet for August but I am not holding out much hope as we heading of to Harrogate for what is known as the 'Northern National'. John and Elaine otherwise known as Signal are also going to that one. But we are also tied with family commitments and a wedding in August. Just not enough time. I think I will try for a weekday pub night (sorry Jan)
Btw- I think Bridgend must be the centre of SWMGF world, Ken and I, as well as John and Elaine are also from Bridgend. I can be spotted in a sonic blue TF and John's is bright orange and really cant be missed.

Clara, we have now booked 1 more night up in Yorkshire (Friday 1st) but Elaine is on Jury Service and finishes on that Friday so we are not sure what time we are leaving that day. Hopefully Elaine will not have to go in on the Friday because most Friday's are Sentancing days and the Jury do not always need to attend. I'll keep you posted.
