Hi Everyone I'm Tony from Aberdare and have recently joined your band of happy fellows. I've got a TF 160 on a 54 plate, but think its a 05 model, as she's got a heated glass screen, but may stand to be corrected as I'm a TF virgin, seeking further guidance in all things MG. I got her last summer but didn't do many miles as had quite a bit of work to do on sub-frames, bearings and the like. Now all refreshed, shot blasted, powder coated and poly bushed. The car is currently awaiting a respray after damage by a bin lorry, not an easy task with a monogram paint, but now paint sourced I hope ! The car colour is Moonshine and has been named Rainbow by my youngest daughter, all will become apparent when viewed in sunlight.
Hope to meet soon and am aiming for the Cotswold meeting on 1st June.
PS Saw a band of you in Dare Valley country park in November - Nice cars

Welcome
looking forward to seeing the car- sounds like a unique colour.
please free to join us on a day out. I am hoping to organise a run in May but just having difficulty arranging a date so keep a eye out on either this forum or on facebook. I try to make sure all details of days out and runs are copied on both so don't worry if you are not on face book but hopefully we will catch up with you in June.
Hope to see you out soon.
Clara

Hi Tony and welcome Apologies for the late welcome, but better late than never as they say! Moonshine is a beautiful colour and pretty rare colour - there were only ever 6 TFs made in moonshine, and only 4 of those were 160's so well done on sourcing such a rarity! I saw one advertised a while back in Cardiff - was that the one you bought by any chance? There were 2 produced in Nov 04 so I'm not sure how that works with the 54 plate/05 model year thing but glass screens are a definite must for me personally, wouldn't be without mine now. Sounds like you've been very busy with the underneath stuff and now with the respray as well. When is it booked in for? Did you have much trouble with getting the council to pay for a full respray? Look forward to meeting you at The Wildlife park if not before

Oops hit the send button too early and that's without a drink ! I got the car from a chef in Stoke on Trent, who hadn't really looked after it and drove it home with shot wheel bearings in a typhoon, at least the roof didn't leak. It's stripped and being painted this weekend, it's been a nightmare sourcing paint ? It took six months to get the council to pay up, just before the court hearing ! While she's been off the road I've been busy collecting toys over the winter so hopefully next week will get full service done, K &N Apollo induction kit, s/st manifold new discs, pads and hoses fitted. Still deciding on suspension upgrade and back box. Tempted by TT exhaust but not keen on tailpipe design and may be too loud. Any advice gratefully accepted. Still aiming for 1st June so will keep an eye on forum for meeting place etc She's one of the Nov cars, but is a 2004 model, so maybe a previous owner had the hood/ rear window replaced ? I would be grateful for any advice on upgrades/ repairs, especially any specialists in South Wales Thanks Tony Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I would be grateful for any advice on upgrades/ repairs, especially any specialists in South Wales Thanks Tony There are a couple of different suspension upgrades available, I've got the Spax adjustable shocks but took off the lowering springs in favour of standard ones about a year or so ago as I found it a little too low, and I caught my Seat front splitter a few times on low kerbs. I liked the splitter more than the lower look, and also went back to a little more comfort over looks. One of the other options that I know of are VHS adjustable dampers - I've no experience of them myself, but have heard good things about them. Exhausts are very subjective, I'm not a fan of the TT myself, I find it too loud and it drones in a not very pleasant way when you're following it at motorway speeds. It depends what kind of tone you're looking for, I have a Daytona and am very happy with it. Scorpion is similar to daytona but a little quieter and a bit too quiet for me. Then you've got the MGOC Supersports, X Power, Longlife, Miltek and almost certainly a few others that I've forgotten! If you make it to MGs in the Park, why not have a listen to a few differnt ones there and see what kind takes your fancy I've got a guy who I use for some of my car repairs in Pontypool (Richie Williams/Williams Autofix) and I'd happily recommend him, but I also use Russell Walsh ( www.mgroversolutions.com) for a lot of my mechanical work. Who I go to depends what the problem is and how much of a rush I'm in to get it fixed (Russell usually has a fairly long wait time of about 4 weeks). I hope it's all sorted and on the road for 1st June, I'm looking forward to meeting you and seeing your Moonshine in the flesh

I do still have them, but they kind of go hand-in-hand with the shocks that I'm still using so I'm not looking to get rid of them just yet as I seem to end up regretting everything I do sell and there's a slight possibility that I might reuse them on a different TF at some point in the future.

No probs will probably give the xpower ones a go as I've used eibach before and found them very good.

I had xpowers before I got the Spax, the xpowers are one of the things I wish I'd never sold! Along with a set of Team Dynamic wheels

Aah ? why didn't you combine xpower and spax ? Do yo know anything about Scorpion back boxes, from what I've read they are pretty quiet. Got chance of a cheap one ? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'd already sold the xpowers when I decided to it was too low with the spax/Satur springs and the splitter - I think I measured about 100mm clearance on the front end lol Scorpions are ok, and certainly better than standard, I just find them a bit too quiet. Nice tone to them though. If it's cheap enough, you could always get it, fit it, and sell it on if you don't like it - they usually go for somewhere between maybe £150-250 on ebay depending on how well they're listed
