Pendine Dash 2008
Sunday 10th August.
Thank you for entering this year’s Pendine Dash, organised by the committee of the Pembrokeshire MG Car Club. This year’s event will begin at the Forge Restaurant and Hotel (SA33 4NA) which is situated approximately 1/2 mile, Carmarthen side of St Clears on the A40 dual-carriageway. As well as being able to get some breakfast at the Forge, there is a petrol station and toilets available. Marshall’s will direct you to the MG parking area. A map showing the location of the start point can be seen below.{Clcik on link above if you want to see map)
Having parked your MG, please make your way to the Gazebo where you can register and be handed your pack. This will include your Route Book and Rally Plaque. You will also have the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets and regalia.
The route we have planned for you this year is different to last year’s and will once again take you off the beaten track. Some of the roads will be narrow and single track and so please be patient. This is a very popular holiday destination and is likely to be busy during this period. Pembrokeshire also has mobile speed cameras, so be careful. You will also visit coastal areas and have the opportunity to look at cliffs, so please be careful. CLIFFS KILL.
It is planned to get the first cars away from the Forge from 9.45am onwards as this is a 73 mile Run and there is lots to see on the journey. We also want you to have time to look around Scolton Manor, which is the finishing point and to have your Welsh Tea. We will also be holding some non-timed driving tests for those wishing to have a go.
At around 4.30pm, we will once again hold our popular Dutch Auction. Some pound coins may be useful!!
For those of you staying in the area, you are welcome to join us for a drink at the Forge from 7.30pm onwards on the Saturday evening (09/08/08) for an informal get together and a quiz. For those of you not staying at the Forge, it is advisable to eat before you arrive as food will only be available to residents.
Proceeds from this year’s event will go to Macmillan Cancer Support.
Thank you once again for entering our event and we hope you have a really great time.
Neil, (Secretary, Pembs MG)
