Great pics Jay ;D Question: ok, i give up, whats the deal about going up 'the hill' ? Dunno personally - seems bloomin silly myself. It's hard enough to walk up the darn thing........but.......aparently...........many, many years ago - before i was born...LOL.........they used the hill to test cars on...........fastest one up there, and all that!!!!
Adrian could prob give you a better description of the thing than me

OK Here goes : Test Hill was added to the Brooklands racing circuit in 1909, it is Grade 1 listed, as part of English Heritage's collection, so is the remaining section of banking. The concrete and railings cannot be replaced, so it is very rough and bumpy (so would you be if you were 97 years old ) It's purpose was to test cars acceleration and braking of the racing cars. It commences with a 1:8 gradient then goes to 1:4, at the top there is a blind 110 degree right turn or you hit the building, if you shut off too early you are going to stall or roll back down. The record time was set in 1932 at 7.45 seconds and 5.99 seconds for motor-bikes, I think we surpass that nowadays. The first car to mange the hill (actual title Members Hill), done it in 15.04 secs. I don't know the date it stopped being used, probably around then. This is why I wanted to do it, the opportunity only comes once a year, I don't think many cars clubs are allowed, you can't go on the hill at other times and only 20 cars are ever given permission per year. Doh, after writing this out I looked here : www.brooklands.org.uk/Conservation/conservationpic2.htmThe thrill factor is priceless.
