Another possible meet place for the English clan, could be the layby as you come off the M4 at bath - thats if yur all leaving the motorway there, or leaving at the Chippenham junction and doubling back.
The layby is jts north on the A46 - at least i think there's a layby there. Can't actually make on out on the local map. Does anybody else know??? If not, then Aust will do.

Dave - there are lay-by's on both the left and right just about 1/2 mile north of J18 on the A46, for those who want to meet there. It's actually further north than indicated on your map Dave, beyond the B4465 juncunction. There's usually a tea van in the left hand (northbound) side, but not sure if it's there at weekends, so parking may be easier the other side. Having said that, at that time on a Saturday it will probably be deserted ;D I'll confirm with you what I'm doing mid-week, as soon as I finalise arrangements etc.

Hi Jerry, yep you can hire helmets, big deposit usually but you get back when hand helmet back, think iv'e got that above somewhere, but if you can borrow one that would be easier, im'e going for early start as don't want to lose out on track drive and lose our paddock place{just in case) ;D
So it's original time at Chepstow lay by 7.10am myself with Brian so far, so now i guess good place to start meet times and who and where

I've just checked Route finder and Ilfracombe to Castle Combe is 130.9 miles!!! Estimated journey time 3hours 26 mins!!! So in order to sign-in and attend the briefing I've got to get up at about 4am. I'm working the late shift this week,so I won't get home on Friday evening before 10 pm 3 hours 26 mins? Now there's a challenge ;D

For everyone going to Combe on Saturday, I've cross posted this from the Sunny Sunday Blat thread in the General forum in case anyone has missed it My F had flat battery so had to take it out to charge it as haven't used for couple of weeks, it was sunny so gave it a wash, another wash in week and a good polish at end of week ready for Combe ;D not going to mention weather for next week as too scared to look ha ha, but gonna wear thermals just in case ;D Just to emphasise Dave's point, especially for anyone not familiar with Combe, if there is the hint of a breeze it'll whistle round Combe like there's no tomorrow and you'll be chilled to the marrow! Wrap up warm - probably lots of layers is best. If the temperature is typical January, you will get cold if not dressed for the occasion. I've given up and gone home before now in April because it's been so cold up there This isn't intended to depress - just as advice to wrap up warm. I don't know what 'mobile' catering facilites will be there, but the 'Tavern' is bound to be open for hot food and drinks all day (including breakfasts for those arriving early ;D )

It gives 1h 14m to the M5, J27, (48mile) and then an hour and a quarter blat up M5/M4. Yep - you can work out my default speeds for youself ;D ;D ;D But seriously, I guess it's the time from home to Tiverton that is the greatest variable/unknown for you?

4 degrees and partly cloudy.
But anything can happen between now and then - you know wot weather reports are like. LOL.
