Hi Peeps, July 30th The Fregister is trying to do an Event called "Effing The Bridges" for Charity, their will be a charge of approx £15 which will include Rally Plaque & Route, the idea is to meet at Aust Sevices for the start, come over the old Severn Bridge into Wales in huge convoy travel down and come back over the New Severn Bridge, i know there will be another charge for us Wales side of Bridge to come back but am working on that and hope we can get something off as charity run, Hopefully, will let you know, if we are successfull. Here's where we need some help, it would be nice to go somewhere from Bristol side of bridge when crossed, to place of interest,or park ect big enough for us to all meet up, have bbq's or something, what's at Clifton? anything there?, we thought about Cheddar but will be so busy this time of year, and bit much to cope with us lot,we SWMGF are also doing Haynes/Fleet in April, any suggestions welcome as not too familiar with whats over Bribge other than what iv'e mentioned, cheers, Dave www.mgcars.org.uk/runnymede-mgoc/mgpitfiles/effing/effing.htm

What a great idea. Will start getting thinking caps on for somewhere this side of the bridge. I'm sure Fiona will be better for places near Bristol. I'm a bit too far out for anything. I did think of Longlete but again too far. There's the place where they do the balloon fiesta in August. Fiona, HELP, what's it called!!! Clifton is also a great place. I'm working on the 30th but will book the day off. Sal

Dave - Great idea, but another Sunday! I'll have to see how the timing works out, but should be able to join you all later if I can't make it to the start.
As far as 'places of interest' are concerned, have you any idea at all of possible numbers? What's suitable for, say, 20, might not accomodate 50!
Secondly, what's to stop the Welsh contingent driving back through Gloucester - it beats the crossing charge and also gives you a run to finish the day ;D ;D ;D

Not sure of numbers Mike but as going to be an open event for all MGF'TF's and being organised by Register i would think 50 more likely than 20, but my guess is Tim Morris will be hoping much more than 50, will keep you up to date with what i get from Register as this moves along, re coming back Gloucester for us on Welsh side good idea, Dave

I love the Downs. Played a game of 'catch the lighter' once for about 3 hours - had time to kill between gigs and no football!!! LOL. Can get busy up there if the weather's good - so parking a load of F-ers could be a prob.

Don't think i'm gonna be able to make this .... fool of a niece is getting married and as the 'nutty' aunt (and godmother) i'm expected to turn up and behave myself ... but I seem to recall mention of the date being a Friday... will check and report back...keep your fingers crossed! ;D Al

Good point Jay although I think most places would be busy on a Sun afternoon in July if the weather is good!

Going back to the Clifton Downs - I spent a lovely hour sat up there today. Took a mate for an interview, for a job, at the BRI in bristol. Typical Bristol - absolutely no where to park anywhere, so I dropped her there and got the latest Fast Car mag and a lucozade and sat up on the Downs for an hour till she called me. Lovely and quite - not quite warm enough today for the roof down, but nevertheless, lovely bit of time to meself.
